It's been two months since I last blogged. I just came back from Cambodia yesterday. The trip was so enjoyable and it will be an unforgettable trip for me. The trip is 4 days 3 nights. Actually, I feel quite guilty for not going to band camp. But never mind. I just have to work hard towards SYF. Now let me tell you what I did during the trip.
1st day
I went to Tonle Sap Lake and a market. Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater like in South East Asia and is an ecological hot spot that was designated as a UNESCO biosphere in 1997. At Tonle Sap, the water is very muddy and had a filthy smell. However, the scenery was so beautiful. My friends and I took many candid shots on the boat. I did took scenery views too. There are many poor people living in poverty there. Some had very less clothings on and not much toys to play with. I remembered a Cambodian boy who jumped into the muddy water to remove certai dirt trapped under the boat. It was quite brave of him! At the market, I found nothing suitable for me... It was so sad. ter shopping, I saw a mother carrying her baby son with a empty milk bottle, begging us to donate money so that she could buy milk for her son. At that moment, I turned stone-hearted and ignored her. Thinking back now, it is very heartless of me. The dinner was delicious. We ate at a restaurant named Suki BBQ - Buffet with hot pot. I got a drink treat from Venkat. Haha...
2nd day
Places we visited: Angkow Wat, Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple, Baksei Chamkrong, elephant terrace, terrace of the Leper king, Ta Promh and viewed sunset at Bakheng Hill.
It was very tiring but it was worthwhiloe as i got to see a wonder. Though the temples were under uncontruction, they still looked grand. What caused the temples to be so abandoned? WAR! The soldiers shot bullets at the temples instead of their enemies. Such a pity. Also too bad we cannot preserve its natural beauty. The sunset was so nice. We climbed the hill and sat at the top to see the sunset. How I wished I can see it again? What about lunch and dinner? We ate Phka Chouk Thmei restaurant and Amanzon - buffet respectively. The meals were very good. (oishi)
3rd day
We went to Angkor Junior High School for CIP project and later to the landmine museum. It was quite relaxing. The students were very friendly and kind. They always had a smile on their faces though they are poor. Actually, their school fees were waivered by the Government. However, they are not as poor as you think. They even had the latest handphone too! After that we went for lunch at Tonle Mekong - Buffet again! Later, we went to the Landmine museum. The CHSD (Cambodian Self help Deming) was founded by a saint knowned as Aki-Ra. It was very noble of him to open the an unprofitable organization. What they do? They helped to clear landmines and UXO (unexploded ordinance) for free! His main motive is to ensure that his country is safe for his people to live in. Dinner? We ate a restaurant known as Samapheap. At night, we went to Srivatsa's room to party. Many humourous things happened there as we played Dare or Dare.
4th day
We went to Artisan d'Angkor and central market. The handicrafts were made by handicapped people. Some are either deaf or mute. Later we went to have lunch at Tonle Sap - Buffet! The jelly was quite nice. We joked around after eating. At one particular moment, we were supposed to take photographs and we were allowed to say anything before the picture was taken. At that time, I saw Siling eating so horribly. So I said Siling, you are very ugly in chinese. Then she threw a towel at me but Missed! haha!
